Both broadcasters have taken over from Sky Sports whose decade-long contract came to an end earlier this year.
However, Virgin Media viewers in particular may feel hard done by as the BBC will show most of its coverage via the red button, a facility, like the eir Sport channels, currently not available to them.
For those with only access to BBC, the broadcaster will have just 55 minutes of TV coverage on BBC Two on Thursday night — 11.20pm to 12.15am — with 70 minutes on the same channel from 11.05pm on Friday.
Coverage increases slightly on Saturday with BBC Two going live from 10.30pm while there will be just two hours and 15 minutes of golf from 10pm during Sunday’s final round.
For those with access to eir Sport or the red button, coverage will start at 6pm on Thursday and Friday and 7pm on Saturday and Sunday.
